Polyester

Polyester shaping to create a product from plastic resin. In combination with fibreglass a hard and strong, yet relativly light, product is created, like our Semi-underground wastecontainer Tièrso.

During production the resin and fibreglass mats are applied to an existing shape, layer by layer. The resin takes care of the hardness and the link between the fibreglass mats, the latter makes sure the product is strong and tough.

Polyester is not plastic, but a resin that is hardened by a chemical process. Polyester can not melt, is insensitive to solvents and is also easy to make non-flammable. Often glass fiber mats are used as filling and for extra firmness. If the polyester resin is applied onto a mold, it will result into a smooth inside, when the resin is applied inside a mold, you will have a smooth exterior.

Molds are made by an extra thick polyester "print" of a wooden prototype. In case of a few pieces, wood is lined with fiberglass mats and polyester. An acid and oil resistant, waterproof and almost non-combustible final product is the result.
