Armed forces

One of the most common activities besides the operational tasks within defense consists of logistics. The execution of tasks rarely takes place where staff and resources are present. Anything necessary for an action from ammunition to medical materials must be stored and transported to the place of deployment.

Plastic crates with straps

Engels has been supplying transport bins to the Dutch army since 1983. Together with the Dutch army, Engels has designed packaging materials with straps to ensure that spare parts can be transported safely and without damage. Furthermore, no loose package materials are required in this way, meaning no litter, which is not desirable if a repair has to be carried out on location, for example in the desert.

These packagings were used as Direct Exchangable System (DES), meaning that the packaging can be used to transport the broken part, in the same way as the new part was delivered. Engels has received Nato Stock Numbers (NSN) for this type of packaging, so that every Nato organisation can find and order the right packaging anywhere in the world.

Bandage kits

For transportation and storage of bandages, painkillers, scissors and other medical equipment and resources the military uses our plastic stackable bins. These boxes are extremely strong, are very shockproof and available in army green. The boxes can be properly closed with a drip and splash-proof lid and, if desired, can be sealed.

We also supplied first-aid box with drawers. These boxes are suitable for different types of bandages and can also be used to sit on. The boxes were delivered to the air force and the airmobile brigade.

These boxes have :

  • Drawers, for quick access and flexible divisions
  • Lockable due to presence of opiates and tranquilizers
  • Handles for easy carrying
  • The box also functions as a seat to get some breathe

Pallets with folded walls and lid

When transport takes place by air, weight is especially important. We supplied this multiple use 1200 x 1000 mm packaging to the Dutch Defense in three different heights to transport their materials back from Uruzgan. Earlier supplied non foldable boxes were too heavy for transportation by air. The pallets and lids nest in each other and the vertical sides are packed in a separate pallet box. Four folded boxes take up as much space as one full size box.
