Collection of used batteries and accumulators

Chemical waste is released everywhere. Items such as oil, inks and solvents do not belong in ordinary waste incineration plants, much less in landfills or sewers. Used batteries and accumulators also belong to chemical waste.

Collecting used batteries and accumulators

A battery contains all kinds of substances. Substances that are bad for nature and the environment. And substances that are actually very valuable. By disposing of batteries separately, the harmful substances do not end up in the environment and the valuable metals are reused. Handing in empty batteries is therefore convenient and smart.

For the separate collection of the different types of batteries, Engels supplies battery boxes and battery cases to both large collectors and self-employed persons. Engels distinguishes 4 variants:

  • regular batteries
  • rechargeable alkaline batteries
  • lithium batteries (eg button cells)
  • lithium-ion batteries

The latter variant is rechargeable and is used in more and more devices. Think of electric bicycles, mobile phones and even cars. Another aspect to consider when collecting lithium-ion batteries is safety. Lithium-ion batteries can ignite if damaged, come into contact with water or exposed to excessive heat.

Pallet boxes for battery collection

For the collection of larger batteries, Engels also supplies various pallet boxes to collectors throughout Europe. Because batteries still make money! The collection of batteries must comply with ADR regulations for the safe transport of dangerous substances by road. That is why our pallet boxes are checked and marked with the UN markings, which is required by the ADR regulations:

  • UN2794 for standard batteries
  • UN3481/UN3091 for lithium-ion batteries

ADR/UN marking

Battery pallet boxes are provided with the UN mark on both sides, so that it is clearly visible what the box is used for or has been used for.
