Containers for specific hospital waste (SZA)

Waste is no longer a local problem; it needs to be addressed globally. One customer of Engels' products on the international market is Suez.

The waste processing industry is a continuously changing market. Environmental regulations are becoming stricter all the time, new processing methods are introduced in rapid succession and recycling is becoming increasingly desirable.SITA is a specialist and market leader in waste management in Europe, Asia and South America; a waste division of the SUEZ Group. SITA aims to achieve permanent improvement to the environment by providing sustainable solutions in the field of waste management. The word waste management already suggests that there is more to waste processing than the collection of rubbish. Waste needs to be collected, sorted and processed. And all this needs to be done as cost effectively and environmentally responsible as possible. Frequently companies outsource their waste management to companies such as SITA. They can take care of all the waste flows within a company, in one single effort. But even a large organisation such as SITA does not have everything in stock all the time which is why they came to Engels for a container specifically for hospital waste.

Packaging instruction P621

Sita wished to improve their competitive edge by adding a waste container to their range of products, to be transported under UN number 3291. Waste included in UN 3291 is defined as follows: Unspecified hospital waste; waste that originates from the medical treatment of humans, animals or biological research, whereby the presence of infectious substances is minimal.

At SITA’s request Engels designed a container for hospitals. Once again Engels has managed to come up with a creative design. The design for the container includes: Instructions and further specifications printed on the box, together with the SITA logo. SITA was then able to start up an extensive marketing campaign. This campaign generated a very high number of responses. The account managers followed up all the responses and as a result the container has become a recognised object in hospitals. The collaboration between SITA and Engels once again spawned a successful product, very beneficial to both parties.
